Heat was the story that made me realize the nature of the fundamental cops & robbers asymmetry: robbers must plan diligently and ensure every single thing goes according to plan; cops must frantically and randomly scramble for every scrap to find the one thing that went wrong in the robbers plan. All the way to the end with the light & shadow at the airport runway.

Is stealing large amounts of cash still a thing? I think one must be pretty inventive to spend it and not get caught.

That scene was based on North Hollywood shootout or was it the other way around?

Supposedly this movie started a bunch of bank thefts. Hell the game Payday is basically this movie.
